Teenagers and young people are a big part of life at Child, Youth and Family. We work with thousands of teenagers and young people every year. We care about making sure they are safe and strong, with a great future ahead of them.

The CYF website has information aimed at teenagers, to inform you about your rights as a young person, being in care, keeping yourself safe, and other support.

CYF also works with young people through Youth Justice to help them face up to their mistakes, make good the harm to victims, be accountable for the actions and move on to a positive future.

Concerns about a child or young person

  • If you think a child or young person is in immediate danger – phone the Police on 111.
  • If you suspect child abuse or neglect, or are worried about a child or young person, you can call our freephone number – 0508 FAMILY (0508 326 459) – 24 hours a day, any day of the year, and talk to one of our social workers. They will determine the urgency of the concern, whether we need to do anything further, or if the child or young person’s needs could be better met by another agency. You can also send a notification to us by email.
